Counselling Contract, Terms and Conditions

Thank you for contacting me and requesting an appointment for therapy.

Before we begin working together, I ask that you take some time to read through the counselling agreement.

You will find information about the way in which I work, along with requirements that I ask of you in order to work together. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Lottie Berryman’s counselling agreement

Confidentiality and boundaries – Due to the nature of therapy, any therapeutic communication we have are confidential; however the only time confidentiality does not apply is if I am concerned about yours or someone else’s safety. In this situation, I would pass on information to relevant parties, but would where possible discuss with you first.

If I am to see you in public I will acknowledge you with a smile, however will not engage in conversation due to confidentiality. I also ask that due to having a social media presence that this is not used as a form of communication.

British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) – I adhere to the Ethical Frame work of Good Practice provided by the BACP which I am a registered member. To meet BACP requirements I have monthly supervision where I may discuss aspects of our work with my supervisor to assist our work together and develop my practice, however your identity will remain anonymous.

If you have any concerns about my practice please let me know and we can hopefully work through these together in the best way possible or you can contact the BACP by emailing –

I use the client management software BACPAC, this is where I keep personal data, notes and upload our agreement.

Sessions – Sessions are 50 minutes, by telephone, online or face to face and are £40.

Payment is required before the session begins by BACS.

Cancellation of less than 24 hours’ notice will occur a 50% cost – discretion will be made in certain situations.

I will contact you by text or email as soon as possible in the unforeseen circumstance that I have to cancel a session, and later will be in contact to rearrange at a time that suits you.

In case of an emergency – As I am not available for emergency contact, I recommend where relevant you contact your GP, the emergency services or the Samaritans on  116 123 or
