What is counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy, offering a space to discuss any problems or feelings which may be causing distress in the present, has in the past or even could in the future.
How can counselling help?
You are able to talk alongside a trained therapist who will support you in dealing with emotional difficulties and life events.
Why do people seek counselling?
People often seek counselling as a process, a process which provides help in changing aspects of their lives or to explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.
What to expect?
Counselling does not come in a standard format. Each session is client led meaning support is provided in the best way for the individual. Counsellors cannot provide answers or advice, however can offer support, letting clients gain an insight and an understanding of their feelings and for some, provide tools to help create coping strategies.
What will happen during an initial session?
I offer all clients a free initial 50-minute session, so we can meet one another. We will discuss your reasons for seeking counselling, what you hope to get from our sessions and what I can offer you as a counsellor. I will provide you with all the details of our working agreement such as length, cost, availability, contact information and cancellation policies. This will give you an understanding of how we could work together, helping you make an informed decision as to if I am the right therapist for you.
